74LS150 DIP Data Selector-Multiplexer
The 74LS150 is a high speed TTL integrated circuit that functions as a 16-line to 1-line data selector and multiplexer. This device selects one of sixteen data sources based on the binary code applied to the four select inputs. It features a strobe input which must be at a low logic level to enable the device. When the strobe is high, the output is forced to a high logic level regardless of the data or select inputs.
This IC is primarily used in digital systems for data routing, parallel to serial conversion, and as a function generator for complex logic expressions. Because it can select from sixteen different inputs, it significantly reduces the number of integrated circuits needed for large scale switching and control tasks. The low power Schottky technology ensures that the multiplexing process occurs with high speed and low power consumption, maintaining signal integrity across complex digital architectures.
