74LS157 DIP High Speed Quad 2-Input Multiplexer
The 74LS157 is a high speed TTL integrated circuit containing four independent 2-input multiplexers in a single package. This device features a common strobe input and a common select input that control all four multiplexers simultaneously. When the strobe input is low, the binary state of the select input determines whether the A or B data sources are routed to the corresponding outputs. If the strobe input is high, all outputs are forced to a low logic level regardless of the data or select inputs.
This IC is designed for use in high performance data routing, parallel-to-serial conversion, and as a function generator for digital logic. It is particularly effective for moving data from two different 4-bit buses to a single 4-bit destination. The low power Schottky technology ensures very short propagation delay times and reduced power consumption, making it an essential component for address multiplexing in memory systems and signal steering in complex processor architectures.
