74LS244 DIP Octal Buffer and Line Driver with Non-Inverting 3-State Outputs
The 74LS244 is a high speed TTL integrated circuit designed to be used as a memory address driver, clock driver, and bus-oriented transmitter/receiver. This device provides eight non-inverting buffers with 3-state outputs, organized into two groups of four. It is specifically engineered to improve both the performance and the board density of 3-state data paths, providing a high-speed interface between different system components.
Each 4-bit section is controlled by its own active-low output-enable (G) input. When the enable input is low, the data at the inputs is transferred to the outputs in a non-inverted format. When the enable input is high, the outputs enter a high-impedance state, which prevents the device from loading the bus and allows other devices to communicate. The 74LS244 features high-current drive capabilities and significantly improved noise margins, making it ideal for driving high-capacitance loads like memory arrays and backplanes.
