CD4553 3-Digit BCD Counter DIP-16 (CD4553 DIP IC)
The CD4553 is a high-voltage CMOS integrated circuit that consists of three negative-edge triggered BCD counters with a common clock. It features integrated storage latches and a time-multiplexed output, allowing three digits of decimal information to be shared across a single 4-bit BCD output bus, which significantly reduces the number of pins required to drive a display.
This IC is primarily used in digital voltmeters, frequency counters, and event timers where multi-digit counting is required. It is an extremely popular component for Arduino electronics projects in India for creating compact 3-digit or 6-digit displays (by cascading) with minimal wiring to 7-segment drivers like the CD4511 or CD4543.
