CNY17-2 Phototransistor Output Optocoupler DIP-6 (CNY17-2 DIP IC)
The CNY17-2 is an optically coupled pair consisting of a Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) infrared-emitting diode and a silicon NPN phototransistor in a 6-pin dual-in-line package. This IC provides electrical isolation between an input control circuit and an output load. It is characterized by a higher Current Transfer Ratio (CTR) compared to the CNY17-1, ranging from 63 percent to 125 percent at a 10mA forward current. It is designed to transfer digital or analog signals while protecting sensitive components from high-voltage transients and eliminating ground loops.
This IC is primarily used in feedback loops for switch-mode power supplies, microprocessor system interfaces, and industrial automation controllers. It is a fundamental component for Arduino electronics projects in India for reliable signal isolation, building isolated logic gates, and safe interfacing with 12V or 24V industrial sensors.
