Working Principle -
The LDR operates on photoconductivity where resistance changes based on light intensity. When light falls on the surface electrons gain energy and increase conductivity causing resistance to decrease. In darkness the resistance becomes very high while in bright light it drops significantly enabling light sensing functionality.
