MC14415 Quad Precision Timer/Driver DIP-16 (MC14415 IC)
The MC14415 is a specialized CMOS integrated circuit designed as a Quad Precision Timer and Driver. Housed in a 16-pin DIP package, it consists of four digital timers where the output pulse width is a precise function of the input clock frequency. Once the IC detects a proper input sequence, the corresponding output buffer is set (turned on); after exactly 100 clock pulses are counted, the buffer is reset (turned off).
Originally developed by Motorola, this IC was engineered specifically for high-speed line printers to provide critical timing for hammer drivers. However, its ability to generate high-accuracy pulse widths makes it suitable for various precision timing applications. The device combines the low power consumption of CMOS logic with the high-current driving capability of integrated NPN bipolar output drivers.
